The Full Monty on Sara LoMedico

varsity jacket

Definition: The Full Monty:
British slang phrase.  It is generally used to mean “everything which is necessary, appropriate, or possible; ‘the works’”

I first met Sara about 18 months ago on a random Manhattan street. We bonded over the vintage bag that she was carrying that I asked her about and we quickly became friends.  I’ve always liked her boyish/feminine aesthetic and her mutual love of menswear which made her the right person to get the full monty on where she finds those pieces.
. . . . .

“This is my favorite bomber jacket from a random consignment shop.
I love anything that’s athletic inspired: For example I love the idea of a hoody with a deep red lip.”

Hat: Hat Hut around Great Jones Street/Broadway.

“There’s this hat shop on Broadway in Noho area and they have these amazing hats that they sell for a lot uptown but they sell them for way less at their own shop so I’ll get a couple.  This one was $60 but they sell them uptown for around $300/$400.”

“I think these look like monsters and look violent. I paid $100 and they were $1500. I almost didn’t believe it.”

Hood By Air Shirt: Gift from sister
“This is totally boyish and I’m dying over it.  I just think it’s so badass. I wear it with shorts under so it looks like a shirt dress or with leather pants.  I like it because it’s so clean.”

“I was obsessed with this editorial that Joan Smalls did and I was so excited. I had this whole editorial for so long and then my sister got me the shirt and I thought ‘wait – I’ve seen that before!'”

Untitled

Bag:  Brooklyn Williamsburg Flea Market
“I’m not much of a bag person but this is a vintage find that I wear out a lot.”

Untitled

“I have a few rings that I wear all the time.   The signet ring on my little finger is from my Mum and I never take it off.”

Untitled

“I have a problem with black boots obviously.
I’m either in sneakers or a really high heel. I don’t really do a mid heel.”

“I thought these were a good shape and I liked the color. I like a good baggy jean with a really stripy high shoe.”

Untitled

“I love the Creative Director of Balmain. I am obsessed with his personal style. He’s always in a white T and leather pants so when I don’t know what to put on I’ll just wear that.”

Untitled

“I have such an obsession with sports wear.
I draw a lot of my style and inspiration from R and B music.”

Untitled

Hat: Stetson
“This is my favorite beach hat.”

Untitled

Necklace: Cape Cod
“This is one of my favorite pieces ever….!”

Untitled

“I wear it turned around on my neck.
I love going to Cape Cod. They have the best jewelry up there.”

Untitled

Vintage Necklace.

“The woman at the shop said this was a vintage Blvgari, I’ll usually wear this with just a T.”

Untitled

APC Jeans
“These are really stiff and I LOVE that. They’re like old school carpenter jeans. I feel like Bob the Builder in these. I’ll usually wear them with a really high wedge.”

Untitled

Nike ID
“These are my new favorites I did the insides black with a gum bottom which I thought was really classic.”

“When I shop I go online a lot. I like Asos, TopshopBarneys and I really like Revolve.  I love Dover Street Market just to cheek out the up and coming designers.  I LOVE Zara’s mens section.  It’s just simple and so well done.  I like the Brooklyn flea market.  I just like the hunt at different consignment and vintage – it’s like a hobby.
Honestly I feel like a boy trapped in a girl’s body!”

Reading this post makes me feel like I’m actually raiding Sara’s closet! I love her mix of vintage love with sportswear obsession, and she does it so well. Getting so much inspiration to head to my nearest vintage shop and dig for some treasures! Great photos, thanks for sharing 🙂
