I first met Mari outside of the Jil Sander show during fashion week. You remember that street style moment that I posted here? I loved her mish mash style and so had a strong feeling that I would love her closet too. Have a peek with me:
“This Sonia Rykiel sweater is super chunky. It’s just amazing! It doesn’t really peel and I love it!”
“I’m a flats girl.”
“I model for From Where I was From and they have this amazing vintage section and they had this t-shirt. Its so great. Guys really like it and say yeah I’d wear that.”
Boots: LA/Japanese brand
“I found these shoes in LA and they are actually denim. They are from Japan. I am in love with LA now. I went there a couple of times and found a lot of amazing designers and a cool scene going on.”
“I shop online a lot because I can find good deals because I’m a student. I go to Yoox and The Outnet sometimes.”
Levi jeans: DIY embellished
“I’m making these jeans to wear in Spring. Everything you see I put on like it’s got my initials and all this crystals and sh*t on them. I’ve been seeing a lot of designer versions online for like two grand so I thought you know what I’m going to make my own. It’s Levi’s so it fits well.”
“I have one pair of heels, these Pradas but the heels are extremely high and they hurt my feet but I like having them as an object.”
Hat: DIY
“I have this hat that I made. You just buy the material and shape it however you want.”
Skirt: H&M
“I just got this and love it. Isn’t it great?”

“These are from a couple of years ago. They also came in black and in this colour. I love them so much.”

Retro bikin: Lisa Marie Fernandez
“I’m Brazilian so I grew up on the beach so I have this really sweet collection of bikinis. Other than shoes , swimwear is wear I splurge. I absolutely love this.”
“I like vintage Louis Vuitton bags when used like utilitarian bags versus for fashion. My Mum gave me this one, it’s vintage.
My ex-boyfriend gave me the Celine box bag. It was the nicest present ever.”
Shoes: Miu Miu
“These are my favourites! I saw them a couple of years ago on someone’s Instagram and I looked and looked and looked and found them on eBay. I wear them with pretty basic outfits so they stand out.”
Bag: Lotuff
“I love this bag and wear it every day for work. I like that it’s not completely black but still goes with every outfit. It’s the perfect size.”
Shoes: DIY
“I made these shoes. It was about ten hours of work. I walk around with a bag and it has leather, glue and tools. I make shoes and handbags. I want to have my own brand at some point in footwear.”
Hat: Vintage shop
“This is a Borsalino hat that I found in a vintage shop. I shop in vintage places a lot. I was looking for a hat in the Lower East side but they were all really expensive. I gave up looking for it and walked into this random vintage shop and I asked about this hat. They said oh it’s seventy bucks. I thought: it’s Borsalino!! I have a hard time with it sometimes because it tends to fly away.”
“I’m obsessed with my plants which are very tropical. They’re just growing back again after the long winter.
My tub is my favorite thing in my apartment. I have my friends in the tub sometimes. I invite them over and they get in!”

I love her style but I hate how she said she dresses like a “homeless” person. I don’t want to start a riff in your comments but it’s not okay. Like Caroline, No. stated, it’s not a fashion choice…you have limited resources. But I totally get the extreme layered look. If the fashion industry wants to take inspiration from “homeless” people then they should pay THEM.
