I’ve been craving a hair cut for over a year. I’ve always had long hair and in my family (well my Mum really let’s be honest) long hair was a sign of beauty. Pretty means long hair – the longer the better. But I’ve noticed that I was wearing hats almost 100% of the time this past 12 months. Almost every post here has a hat on my head. Don’t get me wrong I love hats but they were covering up failed attempts to style my hair in a way that ‘felt like me.’ The odd good curly day or odd good long straight hair day wasn’t enough.
So I cut it!

Bomber jacket: Zara (old). More light bombers from Asos or Revolve (look at this blue one). Jeans: Zara (DIY ripped). Cool similar from Asos or these from Shopbop. Shoes: Steve Madden (love). Shades: Ray-Ban. Cuff: Hermes. Similar from Salvatore Ferragamo. Clutch: Zara (old). Check below for more lookalikes.
What’s weird is that I wasn’t freaking out after it was cut which I thought I would. In fact, I went back to the salon the next day for them to cut off more!! (they gave me a long bob on the first day).
Like I told a friend who’s contemplating a big hair cut; you’ll know when it’s time because it’s a feeling inside that doesn’t leave. It’s like a bug that you can’t shake – for months if not longer.
That was me. Operative word being was…
Will I grow it out again? Maybe. But until then I’m actually glad I did it!
