stop at the supermarket can you? i need milk

Before the sun went down…

Guess who’s never tried this? And no, I didn’t buy it …

Bigger hips in a box: This doesn’t exist in England. Our pancakes are wafer thin – like crepes…
Dress: Vintage. Boots: Jeffrey Campbell for LF

After work, I realized that I ran out of milk so went in to get a carton which meant of course leaving with a basket full of stuff that wasn’t planned.

Even though I’ve been in New York for a few years now, it still hits me how there’s stuff here that you just can’t get in London or might not be as good e.g. pancakes!! Fat fluffy pancakes drizzled on top with syrup!? I mean who thought that up? What’s your guilty pleasure? (and don’t tell me it’s fruit).
The dress I’m in is vintage. One of those rare occasions where I’m in a dress that’s below the knee.

My new indulgence is warm melting cake…barely baked top and warm, gooey, melty, fudgey goodness underneath.

    HEAVEN with vanilla ice cream.

  2. Damsels says:

you cant get pancakes in london ?

    love the boots

  3. The Barely Tattoo'd Artist says:

It’s a toss up between cheesecake and ice cream…though I’ve really cut down my intake…

I really like the yellow dress…good choice!

I am from Russia originally. And I was shocked at the thick pancakes. My mother would make them every Saturday, but they are more like crepes: thin and sweet. Only in America are pancakes so freaking thick!

It’s gelato and tiramisu (not together though)!

I don’t think I’ll ever look this cool in a supermarket. Maybe I should burn my sweats to keep myself from committing that crime.

I just love your blog & your style!

Sigh. If everyone dressed like this to go to the grocery store… Sometimes, I feel a bit odd going to the store even in a dress, because everyone in my town is super casual. Then again, it IS just the grocery store. I digress.
You look cute as always! Love the yellow.
My guilty pleasure would be just about anything made mostly with flour (Fresh Bread, muffins and, of course, pancakes! Cool post Karen:)

Guilty pleasure as of lately: ice cream sandwiches or mint cookie ice cream, my freezer typically contains one or the other.

And I grew up eating ‘German Pancakes’ from my grandma’s recipe while in Guam, with just a bit of raspberry preserves. When I made them for friends in the states they were like, ‘Those are crepes!’ Le sigh.

    Love the dress!
    And the photography!

  23. Cindy Khor says:

seems like the perfect outfit for grocery shopping. the dress brings out the feminity in you and really suits the whole “grocery-buying” image

  24. Lady Bug says:

I’m with Jacquie. The icecream over here is the exact same price in pounds as it is in dollars… you’d think I’d eat less of it wouldn’t you!

Guilty pleasure… sex in public (only joking) melted / toasted cheese on anything. I love the stuff! I don’t feel guilty eating everything else…sweets etc.

  25. Lady Bug says:

Valerie – is it THAT good?

Lady Bug!! – the silent watcher ; )) Next time your hear you need to make a bee line for Hagen Daz…oh and i KNOW you weren’t joking… ; )

Jacquie – DEFINITELY stuff your face if you come to the US!!!

Damsels – yes but they are very thin. Not fat and fluffy like the ones here.

The Barely Tatoo’d Artist – hmmm cheeeeesecake..(Homer voice). Ever tried Juniors?

InnyVinney – Yep. You almost nailed my #1 fave decadance. And the cake MUST be warm.

Marie Louise – the boyfriend likes carrot cake. I never got into that one :-/

Thanks everyone for the comments. I do love this vintage dress. Feels a bit Audrey Hepburn.

  31. PUNKIE says:

I’m waiting a similar pair of booties to arrive! I can’t see the moment!!!

  32. caylee says:

so fun to see you doing mundane things like grocery shopping, yet still looking fabulous. that’s how you gotta do it. =)

be glad you didn’t buy the hot pockets…yuck, haha. pancakes on the other hand, a definite yes! mounds of butter-y and syrup-y goodness.

my weakness is…italian food! huge plates of spaghetti, alfredo pasta, and good old thin crust cheese pizza. very bad for the hips. haha.

  33. Karen says:

Caylee – yea thats definitely hip expanding on me but its got to be done every now and then!

  34. bellas says:
