It’s interesting to see how women are dressing while bike riding in New York. Natalie Joos still springs to mind when I shot her in 2014 in matching shoes and bike wheels.
In general, women are in dresses with bags slung messenger style or sometimes in a front basket. If it’s not a New York citi bike rental, then vintage or retro style bikes are the most common. It’s tempting to buy one but the fear of riding amongst New York traffic kills me (pun intended).
I was just discussing with a friend last night how I love how Europe in general has a strong bike riding culture and that they don’t let bikes stop them from wearing whatever they want – heels included. Now that it’s summer, it’s cool to see that culture amongst many here.
Is it like this where you are?

My exact same thoughts on both counts!

They all look so fab – here bikes are not commonly used as a method of transportation. However when you do see them in use, meh… nothing great.

I live in South Fl where if you value your life you leave bike riding to the roads in your gated subdivision. If you live in one. Otherwise, with the way people drive here, in addition to the distractions, it’s best not to bike at all.
