“I designed the dress myself and had it made in Africa.”

When I heard that 57th street and fifth avenue corner was being temporarily named Bill Cunningham Corner, I went in to take photos of the sign.  How ironic that at that moment, in an area that I don’t normally shoot, that someone who stood out from a sea of the usual, appeared seemingly out of nowhere.

The moment and the location could have not been more fitting.
