A different wedding journey

I’ve never been one to fuss about weddings hence why mine was exactly what we wanted: easy and relaxed. We had some meaningful love sayings & quotes hung up around the venue and the whole day was simple and minimalist.

If Michael and I felt like doing another one day, these images remind us of what it would include:

Michael and me would go back home to St Lucia (where I am originally from).    Everyone gets flown there on a private jet (may as well go all the way) for a ceremony on a secluded beach.  I would wear two ‘something olds’ 1. My grandmother’s rose gold ring on my right hand (I still wear it now – it’s just seen in the above pic)  2. A re-worked vintage dress from one of my fave vintage spots.

Shoes are optional.  Hammocks are everywhere and St Lucian rum and coconut water mixed drinks are on tap for all. We’d have a chartered yacht trip around the island and would be married by Michael’s father, who is an ordained minister.  The whole day would feel like a party.  The cakes (yes more than one, I have a sweet tooth) would be a gift from a girl who loves baking (this really happened for us).

Ring wise I’d go with an emerald solitaire Forevermark diamond.   Forevermark diamonds are rare (less than 1% of world’s diamonds qualify).  Each is uniquely inscribed with a number so it can be recognized for generations to come (and can be registered to you online).  Plus they’re responsibly sourced (an important bonus).

Actually I’ll keep this post for wedding anniversary ideas to show Michael….

    Congrats Karen and Michael! I’ve been following your blog on and off for over a year now and had no idea you were getting married! My step daughter and her husband just got married Saturday and they left for St. Lucia this morning! ….how ironic! They are staying at a Sandals resort. Say hi to Erica and Mike from Antonia!

    This completely gorgeous and inspiring! I am planning my wedding right now and seriously don’t understand why people get so bridezilla over it! We are pretty laid back, minus a couple incidents where family feels like their opinions are needed. But seriously, we have thrown around the idea of buying all the flowers at the local Whole Foods for the flower displays! How much better can it get?!
