inked

Photography: By Karen Blanchard

I’m thinking about getting a tattoo of written words (the first shot reads ‘In time, anything is possible’. Words I truly believe in.
Not decided where yet but I loved the placement of these on a waitresses hand I spoke to last week. I had to take a shot.
I may lift a quote from one of the spiritual books I’ve read. Any wise words you’ve seen and remember?
Talk to me.

*Give me the courage to love with an open heart
*give without expecting, accept without exception

Fr. “Il faut vivre et non pas seulement exister.” – One must live, not just exist.

A quote from one of my fav books, Black Girl in Paris.

  3. Dodo says:

Maybe not that much wise words but Jim Morrison did wrote some gorgeous lines! If you like him/The Doors, do some online reading on his poems and less known songs!

  4. Aimee says:

Wow, great tattoo! I can’t remember any wise words right now, but those are so true!

I loove tattoos, and got my first one about eight months ago after weeeks of asking my parents every single day, hahah. My next one (my dad: “next one?? will there be more?”) I’d like to be some words, just need to find a saying or a line from a song that I really like. Quite a project 😛 One I like is “love all trust a few a do wrong to none”. But there are hundreds of tattoos on weheartit.com so take a look there for inspo 😀

I have 9 tats never and I mean never copy someone else s work or idea. Put your tat somewhere you feel works for you, hands I would not do you have to think later on in life. Finally choose words that touch your soul and you have not read on someone else. Good luck.

    This tatoo is amazing!!!*_*
i follow ever this blog because i like it!!!*_*
    good weekend darling!!!

  9. Mademoiselle Sky says:

I’m agreeing with Diana. A tatoo is something so personal, it’s a part of you. Take your time and choose it carefully !

  10. Sunniva says:

Just remember that ink on fingers doesn’t stick well. It fades very easily, and you have to do it over and over for it to look good. The reason for this is that the skin on your fingers is never left alone…

Good luck on determing where to put it! Lot’s of luv from the girl with more tats than the average girl. 🙂

The tattoo on the waitress is amazing! Good luck with yours!(:

  12. Camilla says:

I wish I had the courage to get a tatoo, I would go for Carpe Diem on the inside of my wrist.
‘Seize the day’is the translation from latin, it’s beautiful.

I have a tatto on the inside of my leg that says “Beauty is More Than Skin Deep” with a picture of a tiger lilly (my favorite flower) surrounded by hearts. This is a quote that I live by. Make sure your tattoo is something you will still love 10 years down the line. ; )

  16. Sara says:

I’m loving her nails! And I love the placement too, that way she can always look down and see them.

I don’t have a tattoo, but only because I haven’t found a design/quote I’m 150% sure about. But quotes from the book The Alchemist pop into my head every once in a while. Let us know if you get one!

  17. Caroline, No. says:

I like ‘to thine own self be true’ from Hamlet and thought about getting that for a while on my wrist.

I just worry the script thing is faddy, everyone’s getting them, in a couple of years we might regret it.

The waitress’s is badass, I love it. (And her nails!)

    xx

  18. Eden says:

love that tattoo, but you better write something that means much only to you:))

I’m not a fan of tattoos (you are so lovely; why spoil it???) but I do love that manicure and want to know everything about it.

  20. Sarah Dee says:

I love the placement (and her nails are awesome)

    How about

    Go now, and live

  21. Lioko says:

I have always wanted to have my fingers tattoed like that. Or at least the ring finger(the inner side next to the middle one) and I would like to write my nickname…it’s my nickname since birth and it will stay like this forever. And it looks good….Lioko…..

I absolutely adore her tat placement.
I have no wise words, but I could suggest a few places to put it.
Maybe going along the bottom of your breast, following the curve. Lol, I sound like a pervert “your breast” lmao. But I have been thinking of getting some words on my left side.

I think I want a half moon one day on the lower part of my back.
I friend of my has a tattoo with the word ‘serendipity’ on her hips. That was really nice!
But I think I wouldn’t get a tattoo on my hands.

    bisous,

i’ve always loved the Latin phrase:

    omnia vincit amor

    “love conquers all”

but maybe that’s something more you would engrave inside a wedding ring or something…

  25. Angela says:

Hi! I was wondering, how can we send clothing or accessories to you? I always read that some fans send you gifts. How can me and my friends send you something we’ve made ourselves =)

  26. J'Adore Fashion says:

love that tattoo words, but am too scared of tattoos :-/

  27. BASIIK says:

I have a tattoo on my back that reads; “I wanted movement, not a calm course of existence.” It’s the first part of a quote from Leo Tolstoy but I slightly altered it. and I love the waitress’s fingernails! ohh baby!

    Karen-

I’ve been wanting to get a written tattoo on my wrist like a trail into my palm. I’ve been wanting the words: passion, strength and struggle but I’ve fought with myself of whether or not I wanted to get it in such a visible place.

I also wanted a tattoo that’s an anklet where i add a “charm” every year but still haven’t gotten that yet.

Good luck on your tattoo journey. I really feel like it should take someone a while to really know what it is that you want to ink on your body for the rest of your life. It’s a choice, a very personal choice. Can’t wait to see if and when you get it!

  33. Louise says:

Wow, love her placement, the words, everything. (And of course the nails)

I LOVE script tattoos – I know it’s a big “trend” at the moment, but if you get something done that truly means something to you it will always be unique and special. I have one, I had it done a week after I turned 16 (rebel!) and it is on my back (starts where a bra strap sits) and it’s six lines. It says:

    Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds
Or bends with the remover to remove
Oh no! It is an ever fixed mark
    That looks on tempests
    And is never shaken

Four years on I still love it to death and it still speaks to me and reminds me of what I want in life, and not to settle for anything less. Oh yeah and it reminds me of the EPIC meltdown my ENTIRE family (extended included)and their cats had when my tat was discovered …. I was nearly deported to Antarctica HAHA.

  34. Courtney says:

Love those tattoos. I wouldn’t get anything on my hands personally because I work in a professional field where it wouldn’t be looked upon well. The thought of having to cover it up would just annoy me too much.

  35. Ado says:

I have four relatively small tattoos, only in the summer can you catch them. I have no words tattooed on me. I thought of it, but I’m more of a “this has meaning to me that may not be obvious to you” kind of girl. My next tat which will be the largest by far will have words in it but again not so obvious but woven in as part of the larger picture. I’ve read the Alchemist and books like it, one of the most inspirational songs to me ever is Keep Trying by groove theory, not to mention tons of things said/sang by Lauryn Hill and the coolest tat I’ve ever seen with words is the definition of Integrity going down the back shoulder in dictionary style i.e. 1. incorruptibility 2. steadfast adherence to a code of…. however until something just jumps out at you that you don’t mind people defining you by don’t force it, you have to live with it. ok so sorry I got so long winded, I love tattoos and the topic keeps coming up today!

I’m so in love with Oscar Wilde’s ideas so I think they would make a good statement for a tattoo. Here are a few :

Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination.

I am not young enough to know everything.

Crying is the refuge of plain women, but the ruin of pretty ones.

Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes.

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.

    Only the shallow know themselves.

    Good luck !

We accept the love we think we deserve.

I want to get this on my body someday. (:

wise words and so rad tattoo !

  41. Anonymous says:

love the tattoo 🙂 i’d always wanted a quote tattoo so in the space of the past three months i’ve had two, one running from the inside of the wrist to the inside of my elbow that says “no apologies, no excuses” which is something my dad always says to me and my second is on my back and is actually a small section of a poem that reads “Though my soul may set in darkness, It will rise in perfect light, I have loved the stars too fondly, To be fearful of the night” its my favourite poem of all time and is about science NOT vampires as many people seem to assume!

  42. Jasmine says:

There is a quote that was found in the ladies’ bathroom at the University of Stockholm. It read

    Dansa vilt min själ,
    lär dig aldrig att marschera

    and translates into

    Dance wildly my soul
    never learn how to march

I interpret it as an encouragement to always live passionately and never succumb to the pressure telling you to get in line and march along to the tune of someone else’s pipe. I have thought about getting those lines on the curve of my foot since they’re about dancing and walking your own path.

It would be cool if you got a tat in Swedish, it would be such a good thing to brag about. 🙂 Hope you find something that suits you.

  43. Meream says:

I have a back tat that says NOTHING IS WHAT IT SEEMS.
    Not very spiritual, I know.
You may rethink the finger placement as the ink will fade sooner than you’d think.

  44. Asia Von Dutch says:

    Alis volat propriis

“She flies with her own wings”- in latin

  45. Alicia says:

I have “amor vincit omina” which is Latin for love conquers all. The finger tattoo is awesome, I would only change the first two words. Mine would be “With God”. But, I wouldn’t do that too my fingers because the risk of infection is high, and they don’t last very well on the hands. I’m cheap and am not getting reinked as it fades and bleeds.
