Heading out on a past mild day to shoot street style…

I want to say thank you to the response to yesterday’s laid off post.  I know that there are many out there who are or were in exactly the same boat as me: Do I leave my 9-5 security or crap I just got laid off.  Do I try doing something that I love?  And if I do, how?   I am hoping that you don’t have that permanent cross roads feeling that I had for so long.  Or even worse – living with it and regretting that choice for the rest of your life.

We all know when something just isn’t sitting right. It’s that pull to what you really should be doing.

Just as you feel that my post inspired you I got something back that I never expected: you inspired me.  Reading what you are going through or have gone through has blown me away.  It confirmed what I suspected, that many of us are in the same boat. We are all going through this.  So many of us are the same.

I will always remember this week’s conversation with you.  I hope that you will too to help remind you of where you are and more importantly, where your gut is telling you that you really should be.

I think about quitting my job the whole time I’m working and today wasn’t much different but I found myself thinking about your post from yesterday. Reading it I became emotional and very self aware, just typing this comment has me tearing up because as terrified as I am, I know the time is very near. There certainly is this undeniable tug, I know what I want for myself but also I want to know that feeling of freedom. I check out quite a few blogs from time to time but I’ve only been following yours and Levi Maestro, or Maestro Knows for a few years now, the majority of the time I’ve had the ‘hated job’, and both blogs have been such inspiration and even offered uplifting vicarious experiences over the years. I haven’t been much of a commenter all this time but with you sharing so much I felt I could at least share that and wanted to make sure I thanked you.

I got fired from my last job and took it as a great epic move to change careers. I wanted to follow my heart into fashion but was tied down by a sad depressing desk job in mental health. Although I like to help people (reason why I initially went into this field) it just wasnt enough to make me happy. I had to force myself to get to work every morning and put on a face. I’m thankful for lousy employers, like you, having the rug pulled from under me. But im so glad they did! Only two years later I work in buying for a fashion retailer 🙂
