Velvet babydoll dress: The Revival Outpost in New Orleans. Similar from Asos. Brogues: Kurt Geiger. Glasses: RayBan
I’ve always wanted to see some of Banksy’s work. You know the guy. A British born graffiti artist who’s work has been springing up everywhere, including all over New York. Many who have seen what his work commands in prices have taken to preserving their newly (and unexpected) sprayed walls with perspex sheets and additional security to stop the rash of anti-Banksy vandalists.
While in New Orleans this week Michael, my mate Paula and I were fortunate enough to catch this picture. We were taken to see it by someone we befriended in a local bar. It’s the very first time that I’ve seen a Banksy piece in real life. A protective sheet of perspex was broken off the wall by vandals. You can see the rivets or dots left behind. It will only be a matter of time before someone comes along and defaces it unless it’s protected again.
There are many who scoff and hate what Banksy does. I personally love it and feel lucky enough to have stumbled across a piece this week and in New Orleans of all places.
The fact that I wore a dress similar to the girl in the picture just cracked me up.

I was in New Orleans a few weeks ago and had no idea there was a Banksy piece anywhere around. Where was this?
Karen says:
I doubt we’d have found it either had we not spoken to a kind local guy who brought us to it. It’s on the street parallel to Esplanade. Walking distance from Port of Call restaurant.

Karen says:
I agree. His work is fantastic. Look how many spray crap all over the place in comparison at least it’s gorge to look at. There will always be haters anyway when anyone is in the spot light.

The fact that you wore a similar dress means that Bansky piece was waiting for you!
Karen says:

So jealous. The whole time I was in New York I’ve never seen a piece. And right after I left, he started showing up EVERYWHERE. This is awesome.
